Last week, Mrs. Evans showed us a picture of Spinx  in the history class. I told her I had read  a story about Spinx in Chinese. So she asked me to tell my classmates this story in English. Then I told the story in the class.  

Spinx was a goddess in Ancient Greece. She stole some riddles from Goddess Muse and  stayed in the entrance to the Greece city of Thebes and waited for people to pass. When someone passed, she would ask him a riddle, if he answered it wrong, Spinx would eat him.Nobady could answer Spinx's riddle, so she ate lots of people including the prince. The king was so angry that he said:"If anybody kills Spinx, he would be the king."

  One day, a brave man called Oedipus passed there, Spinx asked him a riddle:"Which animal goes on 4 legs when he is young, on 2 legs when he is a grown-up and on 3 legs when he is old?" "Human." Oedipus answered. Oedipus won but Spinx still wanted to eat him. So she asked him another riddle:" Which thing grows long in the moring, short in the afternoon and long in the evening?" "Shadow." said Oedipus. Oedipus answered it right again. Spinx was so shy that she killed herself.
